Precinct
Delegates: Grassroots of the Democratic Party
What is a precinct Delegate?
The role of the precinct delegate is one of the
most important yet least understood of any elected office. It is the active precinct delegate who
wins elections for the Democratic Party.
Precinct delegates are elected directly by the voters of each
precinct to serve as a bridge between voters and the Democratic Party in
your neighborhood and you represent your neighborhood at Democratic Party
meetings.
Precinct Delegates are elected every two years
in August. Only Democratic voters
choose Democratic Precinct delegates.
Precinct Delegates can be elected with only ONE vote.
Candidates for precinct delegate must file their
Affidavit of Identity to get on
the ballot. This Affidavit of Identity must be notarized.
The
deadline to file is 4p.m. on May 13, 2008
with your county, city, or township
clerk.
For those who decide to run after the filing
deadline, one must file a Declaration
of Intent form to be a Write-In candidate by 4 p.m. August 1,
2008. Your name will not be printed
on the ballot, but write-in votes will be counted if this form is
filed. Write –in votes will not be
counted if this form is not filed.

Fellow Democrats,
Welcome to aadems.org, the web home for the Ann Arbor Democratic
Party! For over 40 years the Ann
Arbor Democratic Party has successfully advocated for a more just and
humane community and society. The Ann
Arbor City Democratic Party coordinates the party's activities throughout the
city in conjunction with the University of Michigan College Dems and the

We organize events and direct resources to support local, state and
national candidates.
We also advocate for local, state
and national policies supported by participants in our monthly
meetings. We strongly encourage you
to join us on the second Saturday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon
at the Ann Arbor Community Center (625 N. Main Street in Ann Arbor,

the year with the exception of the month of August.
We look forward to working with
you to support progressive policies and elect Democrats at all levels of
government in this most historic of election years. Please volunteer to help out today. Please be sure to call us if you would
