And We're Off! Setting the Stage for 2010
General Party Meeting
December 12, 2009 | 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. | Ann Arbor Community Center
This is going to be the toughest and most important election year in decades. In 2010 every congressional seat, every state exective and legislative seat, more than 1,000 judicial seats and countless local government offices are up for grabs.
Thanks to term-limits we are guaranteed the most massive turnover in state government since WWII: a new governor and lieutenant governor, a new secretary of state, a new attorney general, 29 new state senators of 37, and at least 35 new house members of 110.
On the ballot will be a call to a Constitutional Convention at the very least.
Ann Arbor plays a critical role in close elections like this one is bound to be. Our ability to turn out Democratic voters can make the difference between victory and loss in statewide contests. Our willingness to volunteer as ground troops in swing districts throughout the region adds essential ammunition to the most challenging battles.
It all starts with leadership here at home. Our party officers will provide the strategy and coordination that is necessary to ensure vibrant campaigns next year. On Saturday, December 12, we will choose our 2010 cadre of officers. The Nominating Committee has recruited several candidates, and nominations will be taken from the floor.
As a party member, this is your best chance to shape the future of the party and set the course for 2010. Please, join us on Saturday! Meet the candidates and make your voice heard!

Nominating Committee Status Report
Elections for the 2010 Executive Board will be held on Saturday, December 12. The Executive Board set the officers for 2010 and the Nominating Committee is in the process of recruiting candidates. Any Dem's who reside in the Ann Arbor area and who would like to serve on the Board of the Ann Arbor Democratic Party should send their name, email and the office they would like to fill, as soon as possible to Tom Johnson. To secure a nomination requires the support of two members of the nominating committee or a petition of ten party members submitted to the Secretary two weeks in advance of the election. Nominations can also be made from the floor on the day of the election.Read their full report . . .
